Overview

The wAether app delivers real-time space weather, seismic, and atmospheric insights. We collect only what is needed to operate the service, support accounts, and maintain the observatory. We design the service to collect only what is necessary to operate and improve the experience.

Information we collect

  • Account data: email address and Google account information needed to access your account and unlock premium features.
  • Usage metrics: product diagnostics used to improve reliability, feature accuracy, and troubleshooting.
  • Location queries: city, ZIP, or coordinate searches you provide for weather or earthquake context; we do not store precise device GPS data.
  • Diagnostic logs: ephemeral operational logs recorded when failures occur, which auto-delete within 30 days.

How information is used

  • Deliver public telemetry, account access, subscription state, and critical service updates.
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud, and enforce the terms of service.
  • Improve reliability, anomaly detection, accuracy, and support workflows.
  • Provide customer support when account or billing issues arise.

Storage, sharing, and retention

We host application infrastructure on Vercel and store operational data in Supabase with encryption at rest, rate limiting, authentication, and role-based access controls. We rely on providers such as Google, Stripe, NOAA, NASA, and USGS to deliver parts of the service, and we do not sell personal information.

Personal data is retained for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service. Financial transaction records required by law may be kept for up to seven years.

Your rights and contact

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Request export of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of marketing communications.
  • Appeal decisions made by automated processes.

We verify identity before fulfilling privacy requests. Questions and requests can be sent to privacy@waether.space.
